Overview
TAN Rewards is how TAN Group's outlets recognize and retain their customers: members earn points on every transaction, redeem rewards, and receive targeted engagement. Version 2 is a full redesign and rebuild of the original system.
The challenge
The legacy version had grown slow and fragile. Pages took too long to load at the counter, data inconsistencies created user-facing errors, and adding new reward rules meant risky changes to tangled code.
What I built
As senior fullstack developer and tech lead, I owned the architecture and led development end to end:
- Reward engine — real-time point earning and redemption, transaction tracking, and CRM workflow automation that handle the daily activity of more than 10,000 users.
- Data layer — redesigned MongoDB schemas and indexes so member, transaction, and reward queries stay fast as data grows.
- Web dashboard — a Next.js, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS CRM dashboard for outlet and head-office staff.
- Platform — a clean Node.js API with secure authentication, deployed on AWS for high availability, serving both the dashboard and the mobile apps.
- Team practice — code conventions, reviews, and a predictable release flow.
Results
- Deployed across 12 active outlets, serving 10,000+ active members.
- Loading time cut by 60% and user error complaints cut by 80% compared to the legacy version.
Access
The CRM dashboard is private and shown through design previews. The member app is public on Google Play and the App Store.
